The $0-$10K/Day Case Study: Day 155

Day 155

I’ve been rather negligent over the past four days on this case study. That’s how long it’s been until since I’ve posted.

That’s pathetic.

I  could very easily make a well-rationed excuse. As you’ll see from the Rescue Time screenshot below, I’ve been absolutely grinding the past two days. This has been a crazy busy week as I’ve worked to finish up my market analysis project.

It’s a fantastic project and has been very interesting, but also a lot of work. It’s a $12,000 fee, and honestly, I might have undercharged it because the work level has been significant.

On the other hand though, it’s really fun to see how far I’ve come in less than a year. Around a year ago I did my consulting gig on UpWork for, coincidentally, $12. Less than a year later, I’m doing work that is literally 1,000X as expensive.

It’s been a crazy year and a busy year. I  was thinking about this progression last night and it’s fun to think about where I’ll be going if this trend continues.

But a successful year in consulting does not make a career. I am not “done” yet. I’m not retired, and I’m not 30 yet.

That’s why it’s inxcusable that I missed a case study post.

Yes, I was extremely busy yesterday. But I’m not at my destination yet, so using busy-ness as an excuse to skip the case study is bullshit.

I’m sorry in advance.

Yesterday there were 1,588 days until I turn 30 and need to make $10K a day passively. Here’s how I spent it in pursuit of that goal

The current phase of the plan

I’m in Phase #3:  The Business Phase.  You can read more about the phases and my plan to get to $10K/a day at 30 here.

I still consult, and  I still have a job. I’m looking forward to removing both of those ASAP.

Wake up & sleep:

I woke up at 7:02 after going to bed at 10:23,  for total sleep of 7 hours and  52 minutes and a total recovery of 66%.

Overall, not bad, not great. I’ll take it, but I want it to be better.

I didn’t move all day because I was working. Day strain was pathetic at 4.0

Stress levels

Stress was probably a 2/5, with 1  being the highest. It wasn’t a mission-critical kind of day, but I wasn’t in a jolly mood all day.

Coffee (a lot of it), curry, pasta, ice cream. That’s crap, and a 5/5

My Day Job

Tuesday. I did pretty much nothing outside of a few calls with people I work and like there.

Most people are annoyed, so it will be interesting to see how things progress.

Nothing really here

Didn’t do anything here

Nothing-which is sad. I want to spend time with my fiancee.

Rescue Time Daily Screenshot

The past few days have all been 12 hour days.
My 12 hour days though are different than I think other 12 hour days. I’m “on'” 100% of the time when I’m working. I’m not screwing around here, which makes the time exhausting.

Dean Woods

Dean’s goal is to create $10,000/day in passive income through entrepreneurship. Too many people write “success porn” that skates over the struggles many face in entrepreneurship. His goal is to create something real that highlights the lack of sleep, disappointment from family, and setbacks you really face in entrepreneurship. The hope is that $10K a day swill inspire someone else out there to make their entrepreneurship dreams happen. Dean Woods is side hustling and working a full time job to kickstart his entrepreneurial path. Prior to this life, Dean was a management consultant. Dean graduated with honors from The Wharton School.
