What I did today
Today has been deep in the world of COVID-19. My day job has officially closed the office and I’m working from home. It’s absolutely the right thing to do.
My goal with this case study is to share what I’m doing on a daily basis and not to be “preachy.” That being said, I think it would be silly to not emphasize the fact that COVID can be extremely bad. We’re going to see millions of deaths around the world.
For those of us who are young and saying we’re “okay” because we won’t die, that is statistically true. However, I know several young people who have had COVID-19. You probably won’t die, but it will be the worst two weeks of your life as you fight back and against this virus.
So, everyone, please be careful.
Now, back to the case study.
I’m trying to figure out strategic ways in which I can do my day job while also focusing on the side work as much as possible. Right now, I think my strategy has become to make a few appearances on Slack and to dial into a few meetings.
That will allow me to get my day job done, but also focus on building out the side businesses. Specifically, this is a great opportunity to work on the websites. I need to get the websites to as much content as possible, as quickly as possible. It is an annoyingly large upfront time investment, but it can help me get the sites to where they need to be.
Because…..my first affiliate site made some money yesterday! It wasn’t a lot, but it made money, which tells me it’s going in the right direction.
So, I’d love to keep going there and build these sites up. Building these sites to the point that I have 20 of them, each making $2,500/month, would be ideal!
Outside of the websites, I’ve hired a writer and provided him with outlines so he can help work on some of the kindle books. That will be great over the next year!
What I’m thinking about today
I’m thinking about how I take advantage of this time at home.
Yes, that sounds crazy when we are talking about a world-wide emergency. I don’t mean to diminish the importance of what is going on in the world right now.
Rather, my point is that there is always a glass-half-full perspective to take. My glass half full perspective is that I have the time and ability to write, a lot, for my websites right now. It would be silly not to take the time to do that.
So, I’m appreciative of the time to work on my websites and I fully intend to do so.
What I made today
Rental Income: $25
Interview Coaching: $0
Affiliate sites (2 sites): $0
Today’s pro-rated amount of monthly expenses
My plan for tomorrow
Website work. I have ~150,000 words published across both of the affiliate sites. If COVID lasts 6 weeks, I could theoretically get my niche sites up to close to 300,000 words!
